The former water works are located on the corner of Lewis Lane and Watermoor Road. The site is quite extensive. The frontage to Lewis Lane has at the top the words: "Cirencester Urban District Water Works". A water supply for the town was provided in 1882, although no doubt in Roman times there would have been one. The Water Works date from around 1898. Part, at least, of the works are now used as residential flats.
