This end of Watermoor Road is now a cul-de-sac and is quite some way from the town centre. As a result, these days, the Bees Knees is mainly a locals pub, offering various pub games, food and a skittle alley and function room. Arkells are a long established brewery in Kingsdown, Swindon and this has been an Arkells house since 1871. For most of its life it was known as the Plume of Feathers, but recently it was given its present name. At one time it served employees of a nearby railway locomotive and carriage works, and it also received custom from being near the long closed Cirencester (Watermoor) station of the Midland and South Western Junction Railway.
