View eastward across Finchley Road at the corner of Queens Grove: LT Metropolitan Line, Baker Street etc. - Finchley Road etc. line. Long since a Chinese restaurant, until 11/39 this was a station on the Metropolitan main line out of Baker Street. However, it was closed, together with the Metropolitan stations at St Johns Wood Road and Swiss Cottage, on 20/11/39 when the new Tube was opened from a rebuilt Bakerloo Line Underground station at Baker Street to Finchley Road station, where the line surfaced, joined the Metropolitan lines and then ran out to Wembley Park and Stanmore. From 1/5/79, services on this branch of the Bakerloo Line were transferred to the new Jubilee Line running south-eastward from Baker Street. (Cf. Image]).
