Located near the entrance to the Carr Vale Flash Nature Reserve, the cairn is a memorial to the surveyor, map-maker, fur trader and explorer Peter Fidler. An employee of the Hudson Bay Company he was born near here at Sutton Mill in Bolsover. There are two plaques on the cairn - Image and Image
