The building is thought to date from somewhere between 1840 and 1850. It was shown as the Yew Tree Inn in the 1861 census. When it was acquired by the well known brewers Mitchells & Butlers in 1895 it was renamed the Habberley Valley Hotel. It ceased to be licensed premises in 1913, when the brewers sold it with restrictive covenants against it being licensed premises again. With the change to being a private house, the name changed to Yew Tree House. The building still possesses the large external clock, believed to be installed by the brewers, although due to safety reasons it no longer operates. It can be glimpsed in this view. This information is abbreviated from the Historic Kidderminster Report (Report no. 228) on the building, which is available online. (Their copyright acknowledged). Photographed from the adjacent public footpath.
