Calderstones School is now a comprehensive school located on Harthill Road in the Liverpool suburb of Allerton. Its most famous pupil is probably John Lennon, who named his first skiffle group 'The Quarry Men' after the school's former name of Quarry Bank High School. Other well-known pupils include ex-Labour MPs William Rodgers and Peter Shore. TV personalities include Derek Nimmo and Les Dennis. Sportsmen Joe Royle and Steve Coppell, both English soccer internationals, also attended the school.
