Probable Norman motte on a now minor road in the Stoke Cross area of the Stoke Lacy parish. Many wooden castles on earth mounds were thrown up in Norman times for the suppression of the Welsh Marches area and to control access routes during the 12th century conflict between Stephen and Matilda known as The Anarchy.
