A so-called Pegasus crossing has been provided where the bridle path following the old Blyth and Tyne railway crosses Middle Engine Lane. The push button is set high up on the pole so that it can be easily reached by equestrians. A toucan crossing for cyclists and pedestrians is alongside. The route forms part of National Cycle Network route 10 (Reiver's Route).
