This station is a similar distance from the town centre as Watford Junction but whereas the latter is in a vibrant business district, the Underground's presence in Watford is mired in a maze of quiet suburban streets. This may not be for much longer, however; the proposed Croxley Link will divert Metropolitan Line trains into Watford Junction and the old station will close forever.
