This building dates from 1901 and was originally a dining hall for female employees of Lever Brothers. Later it became a venue for dances and has a claim to fame: Ringo Starr made his debut as drummer for the Beatles here (a plaque commemorates this fact). In this view a craft fair was taking place (advertised by the orange sign) and Santa appears to be paying a visit.
