Walbottle Campus is visible, beyond the road, on the right. The Vallum runs through this field, parallel with Hadrian's Wall (under the road) but is poorly visible. Small Burn arises close to the road and flows south-west along the hedgerow ahead to join the New Burn in Walbottle Dene.
