The church, dating from 1844-5, was designed by William Butterfield ("his first Anglican commission" http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1288167&searchtype=mapsearch ), as was the lych gate beside the camera - see Image "Gothic, in a muscular Early Decorated style".
