Newburgh is a most attractive village with handsome old houses from different periods built around a sloping green. However it is also on the twisting and very busy route from the various transport depots at nearby Burscough to the M6 motorway which often sees lorries struggling to get past each other when they meet. Here the road is unusually quiet.
