One of two surviving Georgian sides to the square (although the far-end house has gone), and probably dating from c1762. The stepped voussoirs to the windows and Gibbs surrounds to the doorcases suggest the hand of local builder-architect Thomas Paty. Grade II listed. A challenge facing Georgian builders in hilly places such as Bristol was to ensure the elegant transition of a terrace along a slope. Here it was not handled with any great distinction - there is simply an abrupt break.
