Civic society blue plaque commemorating the residence here of Henry Vandyke Carter. H V Carter was the son of Scarborough artist Henry Barlow Carter (blue plaque on 16 York Place). H V Carter was an artist as well as medical man and is best known for illustrating Gray's Anatomy. From 1890 he was Deputy Surgeon General and honorary physician to Queen Victoria
