Before WW2 the magnificent gates here were known as the 'Golden Gates' and were maintained resplendent in gold paint, a wonderful sight in the sunshine. During the war they vanished, presumably for scrap iron, but have (sometime since 2007 when Image was taken) been replaced albeit now only painted black. The drive from this Lodge to Balcarres House is no longer in use and has almost disappeared under grass.
