Ballygowan is a small Loyalist community typical of many in the Ards area of north Co Down. Its population has trebeled in the last fifty years to around 3,000. The 2011 Census showed that more than 80 per cent of the inhabitants had been brought up in the Protestant religion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballygowan
