This plaque, which is near the top of the Recorder's Steps, is starting to deteriorate. It is engraved: "RECORDER'S STEPS Erected by the Corporation of this City A.D.1700 For the Convenience of Roger Comberbach. Recorder." For a view of the steps from The Groves, see - Image .
