Rather gauchely proportioned early Georgian, by James Paty (the Elder), 1738-40. Pedimented centrepiece and a good pedimented doorcase. The better-proportioned left-hand wing dates from c1780. Grade II* listed. It is currently a Chinese restaurant, Cathay Rendezvous, but the library left as early as 1906 so this transition cannot be attributed to the decline of modern society.
