There was a time - fifty years ago - when the Altrincham area boasted four cimemas: now, this modern creation is the only choice. Its predecessors were the Hippodrome and the Picture Theatre in the town centre; the Regal in Broadheath, to the north; and Hale Cinema to the south. Each was quite distinctive in character and had the feeling of a real theatre, unlike this contemporary example of anonymous design, which could be mistaken for a filling station.
