The Leslie Manser primary school, Birchwood, Lincoln is named after F/O Leslie Manser who won a posthumous Victoria Cross flying from the former RAF Skellingthorpe which the Birchwood estate now covers. The school itself is built on part of the former main runway. The school emblem features the VC, a poppy and an aircraft outline. More information on F/O Manser is displayed in the school foyer
