One of the attractions of this Cheshire town is the large number of public houses serving real ale from local brewers; within a mile or so of the centre of the town, you can enjoy ales from Hyde's, Holt's, J W Lees, and Robinson's breweries, all well-respected Cheshire or Lancashire establishments.
