This lock is the last one before the Tring summit is reached going north from London, or the first of the long descent from Tring into London. Along with the adjacent bridge, from under which the photograph was taken, the lock forms a Grade II Listed Structure. The fall through the lock is 6' 0" or 1.83 metres. In this case one lock gate has been left open for a boat coming in the opposite direction.
