In medieval times, Purfleet Quay was a navigable waterway, taking boats into the heart of the town; it also marked the boundary between the two medieval settlements forming Lynn. Today it is nothing more than a peaceful inlet. In this image Purfleet Quay is behind the photographer looking towards the estuary with redundant buoys stored on the quay.
