Auchinleck Academy is one of three secondary schools serving the Cumnock Doon Valley area. The land sloping down from the academy playing fields has recently been planted with deciduous trees. The farm track in the foreground leads to Hillend of Heateth. Two family horses graze the paddock to the left of the road. The main farming interest is, however, sheep rearing.
