This weathered stone carving is set high up on the city walls facing the River Dee and just to the east of the Bridgegate. The carving is the Prince of Wales feathers with his motto "Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense" and the date "171?". The stone commemorates the creation of the Prince of Wales as Earl of Chester in 1714. The Prince later became King George II. The stone can be seen in situ at the far right of the Bridgegate photo Image .
