Not everyone will agree with Simon Jenkins, in "England's Thousand Best Churches", that this is the best of the Wiggenhall group, but it is undeniably fine. "The walls are of brick, freestone and any other material that might have served as ballast for barges passing down the Ouse," wrote Jenkins. "The interior is mostly bare of ornament and monument. Its atmosphere derives from its lofty proportions, lightness and profuse woodwork."
