Lambert House, built circa 1830-40, obtained its present name when it became the home of Colonel William Lambert White, 1849-1929, thrice mayor of Hedon. During the Second World War, parts of the house were used as headquarters of the local A.R.P. group. After the War, the house was purchased and restored by the Distillers Company Limited, with the intention of accommodating guests who were visiting their Salt End plant. The company sold out its local interests to B.P. Chemicals Ltd., who continue to use Lambert House similarly.
