Located at 1A Castle Gates, Shropshire Archives is the archives and local studies service for the historic county of Shropshire, which includes the Borough of Telford and Wrekin. The Archives preserve and make accessible documents, books, maps, photographs, plans and drawings relating to Shropshire past and present. 5½ miles of shelving hold local material ranging from 12th century charters to yesterday's edition of the Shropshire Star newspaper. The Archives are funded by Shropshire Council and the Borough of Telford and Wrekin, and supported by the Friends of Shropshire Archives.
