Holbrook's on the right at 80 Chepstow Road is shown in some sources as a gift shop, but the shelves were bare and the shop was locked up at 11.30am on a Thursday in October 2013. The name on the shop on the left at 82 Chepstow Road is only partly legible. The letters MRS G MORGAN (with gaps) are still visible. Kelly's Directory of Newport 1901 recorded that 82 Chepstow Road was occupied by Miss Matilda Palmer, corset maker. Number 80 was the premises of Wright & Lee, printers.
