Metrolink T68 tram 1002 waits on Moseley Street, ready to turn into the Piccadilly Gardens Interchange. The first batch of Italian-built Firema T68 trams (numbered 1002 - 1026) was supplied to Metrolink in 1991-2. Having operated for twenty years, the company started withdrawing these trams from service in August 2012 and, when this photograph was taken, 1002 was one of only twelve of that batch remaining in service; the yellow (Bombardier M5000) trams are now a much more common sight on the network.
