The Falkirk branch of the Seagull Trust, founded in 1982, exists to offer free canal cruises to people with special needs. The boat is the Govan Seagull, specially designed for the purpose, and originally used on the Forth and Clyde Canal. She was transferred to the Union Canal in 1987. This purpose-built boathouse at Bantaskine was opened in 1992. See http://www.seagulltrust.org.uk/falkirk.
