Phase 3b of the Metrolink East Manchester Extension opened between Droylsden and Ashton –Under-Lyne on Wednesday, 9 October 2013. The new extension added a further 2.1 miles and 4 new stops to the route. Here, Bombardier M5000 tram number 3045 is at the inward (Manchester) bound platform of the Audenshaw stop which is off–street, just to the east of Lumb Lane and south of Droylsden Road in the gyratory road layout.
