The sign at the entrance to Tin Lane, at the junction of Burghley and Exeter Street. Originally Burghley Street continued to the West here, as an unadopted road, but when the police station was built in the 1960s, along with some police houses, a paved road was laid to the rear. Although these new houses had addresses in West Street, this little road became known as Tin Lane. See also Image]
