This is the grave of Samuel Patrick McCurdy, the son of John McCurdy and of Ellen McCurdy (née Thompson), of Rathlin Island. A member of the Royal Naval Patrol Service. he was a seaman on the HMS Europa who died on 12 April 1943. He is buried next to his parents and his brother. He is known to have died of his injuries at Hopefield Hospital, Portrush, Co Antrim. HMS Europa was the RNPS HQ at Lowestoft. http://www.rnpatrolservice.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=430
