Grand Italianate stone with a Gallic tinge (see also Image]). By Robert Walker and Horton & Bridgford, 1875-76. Grade II listed. It was built as a Conservative Club, but the Tories have since been largely eradicated from the city - of the council's 96 seats they hold precisely none at the time of writing - and the building is now shops and offices.
