The interchange of M6 Toll/M42/M6 at Water Orton is subject to active traffic management. Variable speed limits are used to prevent stop-start conditions. Overhead gantries are fitted at regular and frequent intervals over the carriageways, with an illuminated speed limit roundel above every lane. These roundels are capable of showing any multiple of 10 between 20 and 60, plus a National Speed Limit sign when the system is not being used.
