An early 19th century mansion built on a hill on the outskirts of Liverpool in the forgotten district of Thingwall (Old Norse name meaning Parliament field). Sold to the Brothers of Charity in the 1900's, first an orphanage, then a home for the disabled, its 10 acres of land are now under threat from the developers.
