The boundary between the Parishes of Poolstock and Ince-in-Makerfield is a brook which runs into, and is then lost in, the waters of Scotman's Flash. The older OS map shows that the shape of the flash has been altered - and the brook's channel moved westwards, and thus it does not now show the boundary between the Parishes.
