The dry channel of the River Beane upstream of the Stevenage Brook. This vicinity was famous for roach and dace fishing in the 1950s and 1960s, but there are now several large groundwater pumping stations situated close to the course of the Upper Beane that have been identified as having a damaging impact upon this watercourse. Other than during wet years the Beane is generally dry above its confluence with the Stevenage Brook which joins a short distance downstream.
