'The "Thompson Memorial Home for Incurables," now "Thompson House," was erected in 1885. This magnificent building on the Magheralave Road, Lisburn, was built in memory of William Thompson, Esq., M.D., F.R.C.S.I., born the 7th March, 1806. He was surgeon in the County Antrim Infirmary, Seymour Street, Lisburn, for fifty years. He died on the 22nd September, 1882, in an accident on the level crossing on the railway at Dunmurry. Dr. Thompson's memorial and grave is in the Lisburn Cathedral graveyard.' Thompson House is now under the jurisdiction of the Down Lisburn Trust. There is a 'Hospital' sign on the road outside.
