"A taste of Boston Bay, Portland JA", proclaim the signs. On Friday and Saturday nights the chimney pumps out an appetising smell of jerk chicken, serving Thornton Heath's big Caribbean community. In May 2013 the Croydon Advertiser reported that the company running it, and the company's owners, had been fined £30,000 for a series of breaches of food safety regulations. Beyond, the buildings of the new Sainsbury's petrol station that opened in 2013 (replacing an independent Total station) and in the far distance a row of modern houses built along the northern edge of Crystal Palace FC's Selhurst Park ground.
