The Belfairs Woodland Centre building was opened on September 7th 2013 by Martin Hughes-Games (best known as a Springwatch presenter) and the Mayor of Southend. The centre is a joint venture between the Essex Wildlife Trust (http://www.essexwt.org.uk/ ) and Southend-on-Sea Borough Council. It will provide educational facilities for local schools as well as a source of information for visitors to Belfairs Park Wood and the Belfairs Nature Reserve.
