This fine symbolic stone carries the tools of the blacksmith's trade along with the crown and hammer symbol of the Incorporation of Hammermen. There's an unusual family member in the burial plot. The inscription on the other side reads: Here lyes The corps of HEUGH STEWART smith in bridgend of …… who died feby 17th 1761 age 71 And HELLEM AIRD his spou se who died June 10th 1767 Also MARY & MARGREAT STEWART their Children Also MARGREAT KENNEDY his mother in law who died in the year 1716… (faded)
