This glimpse of Station Street stretching towards Ashbourne was taken from near to its junction with Station Road. Station Road branches off to the left, adjacent to the photographer's position. The Railway Hotel at 57, Station Street, bearing the "Double Diamond" advert on its gable end was previously owned by the Ind Coope Brewery of Burton-on-Trent. The slogan "A Double Diamond Works Wonders" was used extensively in the 1970s. The building is now a row of houses.
