Three of the estate's six eighteen-storey towers (Bateman, Cornish and Walters Houses), clean concrete frames with distinctive tops housing services such as lifts. Each contains 68 flats. The estate, most of the rest of which is not so high rise, incorporates a fair amount of green space. Built 1957-58 to the designs of the London County Council's Architects' Department. On a sunny Sunday morning there were a lot of football matches being played on that green space, Kennington Park, chiefly involving the area's considerable Latin American population.
