The plaque over the entrance reads “this building was erected in 1914 by HRH Edward Prince of Wales to provide accommodation for old tenants of the Duchy of Cornwall”. The Duchy still owns much of the land around Kennington. For context, see Image Listed grade 2* (list entry number 1320423).
