The River Medway splits into two upriver of East Peckham to form an island from which this photograph was taken. This is the southern branch which is navigable because a lock at the divide is present, whereas the northern branch is not navigable. The two branches meet again just ahead. This is the view from Branbridges Road. The Medway Valley Walk follows the right hand bank.
