Cheam Park was originally part of Nonsuch Park. However, Cheam Park had already become a separate entity by the beginning of the 19th century with very similar boundaries to those of today. Sutton & Cheam Council acquired the house and park in 1937, but the house was completely destroyed by a flying bomb in 1944. It is now owned and managed by Sutton Council.
