Burntisland railway station, Fife

Opened in 1847 as a terminus station, the original platforms were just out of view to the left of this image, and were convenient for the ferry connection to and from Edinburgh. In 1890, the Forth Bridge was opened and the North British Railway realigned the platforms to this location to permit through running of trains to Edinburgh.
